Description

The Shark Nebula, also known as LDN 1235, is a faint cloud of interstellar gas and dust in the constellation Cepheus. It's about 15 light-years long and 650 light-years away.
The Shark Nebula is not visible to the naked eye, and you won't see much through binoculars or telescopes either. It's best observed between May and December when the constellation Cepheus is highest in the sky.
The Shark Nebula is incredibly faint and very challenging to image from a city. It includes smaller dust nebulae such as:
  • Lynds Dark Nebula 1235
  • Van den Bergh 149 & 150

The Shark Nebula is located between Draco and Cassiopeia.
