Description

The high geomagnetic activity brought some incredibly colorful auroras to the skies and even after seeing the northern lights hundreds of times I don't recall ever seeing such vibrant blue arc which also happened to be well visible to the naked eye. The combination of colors was also very unique.

The aurora first appeared in the southern part of the sky here as it easily does due to my geographic location being north of the mid point of the aurora oval in Greenland, but it also quite effortlessly moves directly overhead. The shooting conditions were difficult with my camera tripod being placed on top of a small moving iceberg. The colors are not saturated.

Qeqertaq, Greenland. A small isolated island of 100 people at exactly 70 degrees northern latitude.
