Description

SH2-112 is a mostly circular HII region/emission nebula located in Cygnus about 1.5 degrees from the bright star Deneb. It's surrounded by a larger molecular cloud of gas providing a rich background for this seldom imaged nebula. The powerful UV excitation provided by the central star BD+45 3216 (said to be 30 times brighter than our Sun) is  what ionizes the nebula causing it to glow brightly against the dimly glowing background.
