Description

Another of the beautiful galaxies just off the back paw of Ursa Major, 3198 is  a barred spiral first seen by Lord Rosse (William Parsons) with the "Leviathan of Parsonstown", a monstrous 72-inch telescope that could only view objects as they passed across the celestial meridian. A member of the Virgo Supercluster, this system comes to us from ~47 million light years away.
