Hazy condition but only a few clouds crossing.
It was a few hours after full moon and the first shy shadows were casted at the easternmost limb. Also, -6.3° libration in latitude shifted southernmost craters into view. The original image is a 2-panel mosaic of the southern limb. It is centered on crater Grümberger situated between Clavius and Moretus, though both not ad-hoc recognizable. The elevations at the limb near the center are Malapert, about 100km away from the lunar south pole. Southern crater Bailly is at the left horizon. Mars, Ø14" small, taken about an hour before with an ASI462MC, is inserted to image scale.

Though I usually image the moon with an IR642nm band pass (close to visual red), this time I used an IR-cut filter in spite of air turbulences. As far as I can tell the images (after a high pass filter and subtle sharpen) are free of ringing and double structures. The ASI290MM is highly sensitive in visual in that the best bet for exposure time at gain 110 was 2ms.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
