The first evening this year without a single cloud, but the sky was decorated with high altitude haze and some yellow sand from Inner Mongolia. Local condition 18°C and over 90%RH (my hygrometer said "Hi" to me). No way to manage the evening without a hair dryer and bug repellent. This is too early for the season, though. While crossing haze was clearly visible in PHD's guiding monitor it also manifested in the final stack of the M106 galaxy. In spite of over two hours integration the outer arms of the spiral are not revealed, just some noise.

Rev B: Near midnight, seeing improved a bit and I dared to image the globular cluster M13, 56x 60sec at ISO1600. The background in the final output by Siril looked much better than that of M106, making fine tuning a lot easier. Discarded a handful of lights as accurate guiding is crucial for GCs.

Both images are calibrated with darks, flats and biases, 25 each. No filters used.

Recently I am stacking in both DSS and Siril. The M106 stack looked better in DSS, the M13 stack excelled in Siril (stack with background extraction). It depends on seeing and noise conditions, but both are doing great as far as I can tell.

Rev C: In parallel, I took a quick image of Corona Borealis with a modified DSLR, LPR and a 50mm lens on a StarAdventurer without calibration and expectation.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
