Description

The main, round picture is actually a mosaic made from 26 single frames covering the whole visible firmament and shown as a fisheye projection. The center of the Milky Way in Namibia comes almost through the zenith and it's a remarkable experience to see that. From Carina to Cygnus. Small Magellan Cloud and even Saturn are also visible. Not to mention all the nebulas and a lot of airglow.

As the fisheye projection has the shape of a circle, the corners were all black in a square picture. So I filled them up with a combination of 2 different pictures also taken in Namibia. The dusty stars are from the neighborhood of the Barnard Galaxy (https://www.astrobin.com/6iao5s/) and to boost up the roundness I mixed it with some star trails (https://www.astrobin.com/iq6z05/).
