Description

The Eastern Veil Nebula is a prominent portion of the larger Veil Nebula, which is situated in the constellation Cygnus. It is a diffuse supernova remnant, a celestial object formed from the remnants of a massive star that exploded in a supernova event. The Eastern Veil Nebula specifically represents the eastern part of the expanding debris from the supernova explosion. The nebula is characterized by intricate filaments of glowing gas that span across a vast region of space. These filaments are composed of ionized hydrogen, oxygen, and other elements, which emit light in various wavelengths. The emission of light is due to the interaction of the high-energy radiation from the original supernova explosion with the surrounding interstellar medium.
