Description

I was fortunate enough to shoot Comet 'Zwicky' (C/2022 E3 ZTF) a second time and as with all comets, they look different every night. The sun heated up the little icy dirtball when it got close and that heat caused it to grow a long ion tail and wild looking dust tail. As it races away, it leaves the dust behind. But notice at the top, the ion tail has been disconnected. A solar flare from the Sun was so strong it disrupted part the tail. How cool is that! Captured early morning of January 21st. About 40 minutes of 1-minute exposures using a Canon R6, ISO 8000 and a Ceravolo 300mm, 1400mm focal length telescope.
