Description

I observed NGC 2808 on 5 January 2014 at Havelock North, New Zealand using an Explore Scientific ED80 Refractor: Faint. Highly concentrated core. (Note: From the image it is likely that I was seeing all of the cluster.)

I obtained the calibrated lights frames used to create the final image from Telescope Live. The frames were imaged by the CHI-1-CCD Telescope at the El Sauce Observatory.

Note: The cluster is being disrupted by the galactic tide, trailing a long tidal tail.

Shapley Sawyer Classification: I
Distance: 31,315 LY
Type: Halo Globular
Position w.r.t. core of galaxy: Below the MW disc and to the side of the core.
Any stars resolved: No
Undergoing Core Collapse: No
