Description

20,870,000 years ago and also last Friday a supergiant star ran out of fuel and its core collapsed, blowing the star to smithereens in a galaxy far far away.

This is an image of M101 (LHaRGB) I made in April 2022, updated with 162x60s luminance frames I shot last night through moderately thick smoke from the Alberta wildfires. C8edgeHD f/10.4, ASI2600 mm, chroma filters, 10Micron GM1000, OAG, NINA 2.2. Total of 31 hours of exposure over 12 nights in 2022, plus 3 hours last night to update with the supernova!
