The local street lights have been out over the long weekend so took the opportunity to go after a challenging RGB target - this region with lots of dark nebulae with colourful bright stars looked quite interesting so gave it a shot. Eight different LDN catalogue objects and no 'bright' ones. Doing a search after-the-fact suggests this is a fairly neglected region with very few images are actually centred on these objects - a pity as I think it makes for a pretty image.

As the clouds took their time clearing one night didn't really give me enough RGB data to go with the luminance but I'm shocked how well this came out for a 'quickie' processing as there weren't even enough subs to drizzle.
There are supposed to be some clear conditions tomorrow night but a full moon isn't going to make things easy - more data may have to wait a while. I'll make it public even without the extra data as it's not too bad as-is.

This image was my first time using PixInsight in Linux (Debian 12) - a bit of work needed to get GPU acceleration up and running without messing up my work CUDA install/programs, but it's definitely nippier than in my Win10 installation!

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
