Description

Messier 51 - aka the "Whirlpool Galaxy" is a grand-design spiral galaxy and one of the most famous examples of an interacting galaxy pair: NGC5195 (aka M51b) is a dwarf galaxy that can be seen "tugging on the arms" of its host on the right side. The two galaxies are connected by a "tidal bridge" of stars and dust.

Total integration time: 2 hours and 56 minutes, shot from my rooftop in Tokyo Japan with a Vixen ED81s apochromatic refractor, ZWO ASI1600mm monochrome camera, LRGB filters, on a iOptrom GEM45 mount.
