Description

The frequent lock-downs we face here during the pandemic made it next to impossible for me to travel to my favorite dark site for about a year now.

Since I am getting rusty I started to reprocess some old data gathered in 2016/17. The "rays"visible in this image are reflections from Alnitak and Sigma Orionis caused by some chipped-off blackening on the outside of the off-axis guider (OAG) pickup prism. I had fixed the reflection issue thereafter.

Description: Reprocessed, using RC-Astro's NoiseXTerminator and BlurXTerminator. Stacked data from several years, some of it not fully covering the cropped field of view. As mentioned, the reflections stem from a chipped off blacking on the side of the OAG prism, something I had fixed thereafter.
