Description

Many years ago when I was using my 6" reflector and an EQ3.2 mount I stumbled

across ngc 4837 - I was actually looking for M94, I think. The image I got with

my MX5C was not great and I have been looking to re-image this one with my H9C

camera for a while. I got around to looking for it a couple of nights ago and

got some reasonable exposures. It's very tiny and not at all spectacular but

still an interesting example of an interacting galaxy pair.

I don't have much data on the pair except the following:

1. both galaxies are around mag 14

2. both are tiny about 1' x 0.5'

3. they are about 7 deg from M94 which indicates how far out I was looking for

M94.

4. they are a very, very long way away from us!

5. there are at least 20 other extremely faint galaxies in the image.

This is 60 minutes exposure so probably not worth much more effort on -

GoogleSky gives a better impression of the 2 galaxies.
