Description

It has been quite a while since I posted my last image. 2022 was not productive for me in terms of imaging. However, I slowly upgraded my equipment to a new (second hand) EdgeHD 11, a new (second hand) EQ8 and a concrete pier in my backyard. After all the missing parts had arrived, learning to handle/tame the equipment and clouds clearing away eventually towards the end of 2022, I got going again.

NGC 2371 is a really nice but small PN, not extremely rare here on Astrobin but still one of less frequent imaged objects. Like always, more integration time would advance the image but with the current weather conditions in Germany, I have to be realistic of what can be done. Overstretching reveals more of the outer parts of the nebula but then noise is creeping in, so I left it as it is.

The image is a composite of a (starless) narrow band image and a RGB image for the stars. Both combined with Pixelmath in Pixinsight.
Integration time was 1h for RGB and about 3h for Ha and O3
Taken without reducer, 2800mm at f10
The image is a 70% crop , the object is small at 1 arcmin diameter and therefore perfect for telescopes with a larger focal length

Hope you enjoy
