Description

After putting my main rigs on rolling piers, taking a telescope out to a dark site was not so easy anymore. So I decided to build a 'grab-and-go' rig based around the Takahashi FS-60CB. This is a modular system with the usual flattener/reducer/extender, but also the option to switch out the objective for a larger 76mm version. So if you get all components, it is six telescopes in one.
During a local star party I had first light with this telescope. Observation time was very limited. Astronomical night does not even exist here in summer, and with some testing, trouble shooting and trying another target first, I finally ended up with only half an hour of data with this scope. So far very happy with its performance though and looking forward to see what it can do when fully fine-tuned and with some serious exposure times.
When I get the time I will write a bit more in a blog on the full setup. There was quite a bit of tinkering needed to get it all right, but that is part of the joy in this hobby.
