Description

I was hoping to catch the mass of sunspots on the limb this morning and despite some pesky cirrus clouds I was not disappointed.  When I first set up I noticed a bright spot within the group at the limb so I skipped getting a full disk and started imaging that area right away.  Glad I did as the first thing I caught was the C4.3 flare that shot up a lovely surge prom to its highest point in only 11 minutes.  Calculating the height at 100,000 KM that means it was traveling at nearly 546,000 KM/H or for those of us in the States, 339,000 MPH.  Nothing like leaving Earth and passing the moon in 10 minutes!  There were additional flares following this one, including an M1 Class flare but none of them gave a show like the first one!  Including a still of the highest point and one with the measurement chart.  I did lose 7 minutes of captures due to heavier clouds so there is a bit of a skip as the surge prom is returning to the surface.
