Since I only started astrophotography last December, this is already my most remeberable image!

What an adventure this photo was! Using an OSC and two Narrowband Filter in Ha+OII and Hb+SII.
First filter night of 09/10 May 2024 was all nice and easy but the second night, 10/11 May 2024 was just such an adventure!
The night started by realising the nebula will be much harder to see, because I had to shoot throug a gap between our neigbours hedge and another house!

The gap was so small, after the first 10 minute frame in Hb-SII, my guiding scope was obstructed and my guiding was gone!
I decided to leave it and see what my brand new mount was able to, and WOW, it was tracking 10 minute frames just fine, without guiding!
So the guiding went on and off, but for most of the night it was just not working and the mount did its job.

But then, as I checked on my setup at 0:10 German time I thought, wait a minute, why are there clouds???? And why do those clouds look like AA beams???
It was the Northern lights! Coming in from a G5 with kp9! What a night and wow, was my scope performing, I had one extreme bright frame frome the lights and two brighter ones, but even there was about two hours of lights, the filter was doing great.

The image was then created with:

SII data: Hb-SII Filter RED = RED channel
Ha data: Ha-OII Filter RED = GREEN channel
OII data: GREEN and BLUE from both filters in (Ha-OIII-G + Hb-SII-G + Ha-OIII-B+Hb-SII-G) / 4

So the magic happened with the Wizard Nebula, I will never forget that night, this image will always remember me!
