Description

I guess the Jellyfish is more normally associated with its IC443 catalogue number, but the two Sharpless objects encompass most of this field of view.

This was imaged in January, but I managed to capture quite a few targets in January and February and was unable to process them very quickly due to other pressures. This one was quite low down the pecking order, as there was a fair bit of very light hazy cloud passing through, and I didn't think it would turn out too well. However, none of the subs turned out to be unusable, even if they were a bit variable, and I'm pleased with this result. I like the way the colours and the various bits of reflection nebulosity have come out. I also like the way the reflection nebula associated with 12 Gem (LBN 840) gives the illusion of  illuminating the front edge of the Jellyfish.

The two red giant stars Propus (Tejat Prior) and Tejat Posterior are a bit big and blousy, but as usual I've left them to do their thing. I think there were some issues with my cable routing in fromt of the RASA corrector (tape coming loose), and this has caused some artifacts on some of the bigger stars. The other thing I'm not totally happy with is the framing. My camera has fixed rotation, and in retrospect this would have been better with a 2 panel mosaic, so that I could have given a bit more space top and bottom. One for next year's list.
