Description

The Snake Nebula (Barnard 72/LDN 66) is a dark nebula in the constellation Ophiuchus. This is a small but easily identified dust lane that, as usual for these types of nebula, hides the background stars enabling you to see in the black voids an image that looks just like a snake. Its thickness runs between 2′ and 3′ and runs around 6′ in the north-west / south-east orientation.
