Description

You see this object a great deal but seldom by itslef. More typically it is part of the FOV in most images of VdB 152. Dengel-Hartl 5 in Cepheus was discovered in 1979 by the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey. Most sources categorize it as an ancient planetary nebula (hence it's unusual shape), although other sources dispute this and recently list it as just a dense part of the interstellar medium that is ionized by a hot white dwarf star (PK111-11.1) The faint red filaments at the lower left are part of the much larger supernova remnant SNR 110.3+11.3. HAO3 image with RGB Stars taken over 16 nights between July 25 2023  and August 16 2023 with my system at SkiesAway observatory.
