Description

The Iris Nebula, also known as NGC 7023, is a reflection nebula located in the constellation Cepheus at a distance of approximately 1,300 light-years from Earth. Spanning about 3 light-years, it is illuminated by the radiation of the central star, HD 200775. Embedded in an extensive region of cosmic dust, the nebula's dark dust lanes create a visually striking display of the interplay between stellar radiation and interstellar matter.
