Description

RCW 59 is a suspected supernova remnant. Sadly, I have confirmed that the filaments or not apparent from my Bortle 8 backyard. That said, this object is also a large galactic star field of colorful gems. South is up and east is to the left. The galaxy NGC 3882 far behind the abundant stars, is at the north - east of the image and located at a distance of roughly 62 thousand light years away. In turn, the planetary nebula NGC 3918 is also visible in this frame towards the east edge of the image. It is located 3000 ly away and is not so easy to distinguish from the stars in the same relative angular location in the sky.
