Description

Also known as IC 4628, Prawn nebula is an emission nebula with an estimated distance of 6000 light years away and is located in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way. In this widefield image it is flanked by two open clusters NGC 6231 (top) & NGC 6242 (bottom). NGC 6231 is a spectacular open cluster easily visible through binoculars. This cluster forms the 'head' of the 'False Comet' asterism with the tail formed by the bright group of stars leading to the Prawn nebula. There's also some interesting structure I haven't noticed before on the top left corner of the image.
