Description

Also know as Veil nebula, this object is a supernova remnant that measures nearly 3 degrees across (which is a pretty large area of the sky). It also has few named components. Eastern Veil is to the bottom left, the Western Veil (aka Witch's Broom) at top right & the triangular structure in the middle is known as Pickering's Triangle. The approximate centre of the explosion is just above centre in the image closer to Pickering's Triangle. This object is a tough one to bag from Australia as it is pretty low in the north, so hard to put a good amount of time on it.
