Description

NGC891, also known as the Silver Sliver Galaxy is a spiral galaxy in Andromeda. It sits about 30 million light years from earth! This galaxy was first discovered by William Herschel on October 6, 1784. Note that orientation of the galaxy is edge-on - we are seeing it from the side. This is likely what our own galaxy, the Milky Way, would look like if observed from the side.
