Description

The pearls of the central meridian - (PAA) Ptolemaeus, Alphonsus, Arzachel, the smaller ones: Alpetragius with a dome in the center and the "budding" Thebit (sequence of three gradually decreasing craters) and also further south: Purbach and Regiomontanus.

A unique pearl is the Straight Wall (Rupes Recta) - in the light of the first square, a dark long fault structure resembling a saber, hence its former term "Huygens' sword". The height of this wall is about 300 meters, and although it seems steep, the slope is not very large. Rupes Recta is a chameleon among the lunar formations, because just before the third quarter it changes its appearance, becoming a "white Straight Wall". Parallel to it in the west runs a ditch - Rima Birt.

Moon 16 hours after the First Quarter, June 18, 2021 North is on the left in the photo.
