Description

SH2-132 is a complex molecular cloud containing multiple embedded clusters and regions of glowing ionized gas.  Located in the constellation Cepheus, it is popularly known as the Lion Nebula.

Approximately 10,000 light years away, the bright core of SH2-132 (the "head" of the lion) appears roughly the size of the full Moon, with an extended region of OIII emissions (the blue "body") extending another half degree.  A study published in 2009 (Saurin et al, https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2010MNRAS.407..133S/abstract) found at least five embedded clusters of varying ages, indicative of triggered star formation as the winds from hot newly born stars trigger the formation of additional clusters.

Another faint object, and definitely could use more exposure time.  Over the course of three nights I collected 60x30 seconds each RGB, 60x300 seconds Ha and OIII, and 70x300 seconds SII (a bit over 17 hours total).
