Description

M101 wide field from B8 skies

I finally setup a backyard rig with AP900 mount, Takahashi E130D and QHY600 camera . This gives me a very large field of view.. however, my location in Austin is in red/white zone.. probably Bortle 8 and the view I have is directly looking into Austin's light dome.. So this will primarily be a narrowband setup.. But there is no Narrowband targets to shoot! (I only have North and East view with house blocking West and South) so I picked M101 field which is rising now and tested the setup. This is not an ideal target for this setup but it is great to verify the setup (This is one of the tougher scopes to collimate and with full frame there is not a lot of room for error)
The collimation and spacing worked well and I have perfect stars edge to edge! Very pleased with that.

In spite of the light pollution gradients, It turned out okay. This is about 6 hours of data (3 hours of L and 1 hour R/G/B)
L - 36x300s
R/G/B - 12x300s per channel
