Description

This barred spiral galaxy is located 135 million light years away in the constellation of Canis Major at a declination of -23 degrees.  It is a magnitude 12 galaxy which spans 2.3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 90,000 light years.

From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 30 degrees from face-on.

The detail for this disk was tough to bring out.  It is a barred galaxy with an off-center inner pseudo-ring.  2 strong arms peel off of that ring, extending to the outer disk.

This is the second image of this object on Astrobin.
