Description

The IC 5068 region is a mix of bright and dark nebulosity forming complex perpendicular patterns of light and shadow.  It's on the southern side of the North America - Pelican nebula complex in Cygnus in the northern summer Milky Way.  Technically, I think IC 5068 refers only to the brightest patch just right of center.  The rest of the structures have various LBN and LDN designators.

I processed this data twice.  The original follows my standard narrowband processing approach, where I stretch each channel individually before creating a color image.  The final version used process outlined by the Pixinsight team in their video series on narrowband processing. The key feature of this approach is that it uses the nebula itself as a white reference during color calibration, while the SHO image is still linear.  The two versions were pretty close in the end, but I slightly prefer the Pixinsight version, so I made that the final image.
