Description

The Flaming Star nebula (IC 405) is located in the direction of the constellation of Auriga (The Charioteer) at an approximate distance of 1500 light years. I took this image was last Thursday night from our property here in Van Alstyne, Texas. It consists of 40 - 5 minute exposures using a QHY-367C camera equipped with an Optolong L-Enhanced filter and mounted to a 12 inch F/8 RC telescope. This emission/reflection nebula surrounds the bluish variable star AE Aurigae
