Description

vdB 15 is and emission nebula, illuminated by the supergiant variable star HD 21389 (also CE Cam) which is around 15-20 times as massive as the Sun and 60,000 times as luminous.

vdB15 is part of a large dusty molecular cloud which is a region of star formation with stars aged from 1 to 100 million years old. HD 21389 is thought to be around 11 million years old and, having exhausted its core hydrogen, has evolved into a supergiant star
