Description

M8 and M20 | The Lagoon and Trifid Nebula.

Take a look at the Lagoon nebula (M8) and Trifid Nebula (M20) captured in the summer skies of India. These both nebulae can be found in the Sagittarius arm of the Milky way galaxy. These are said to be roughly 5000 light years away from Earth. Both the nebulae have active star forming region especially Trifid nebula have a big cluster of approximately 3100 young stars. In this image you can see glowing hydrogen gas creating dominant red color in both emission nebulae. Also outer part of trifid and central part of lagoon reflects bluish starlight hinting presence of big young stars which are as big as 20 times of our own sun
