Description

Wikipedia will tell you this is known as "The Omega Nebula, also known as the Swan Nebula, Checkmark Nebula, Lobster Nebula, and the Horseshoe Nebula". It's not surprising it has so many names because it looks a little like a lot of things , but not a lot like anything. John Herschel saw it a the capital greek letter Omega Ω and that name seems most official. Most agree that it's one of the most massive and brightest star-forming regions in our galaxy.

I shot it pretty late in the season and low in the sky on a breezy evening. As a result my guiding was only so-so and there's a bit of star bloat.
