Description

A look deep into the Soul Nebula IC1848. with a bright star-forming pillar above. The light brown, slightly twisted brooding dust clouds in the center of the image, outlined by bright fringes of glowing gas, are cataloged as IC 1871. This region is about 25 light-years across. At an estimated distance of 6,500 light-years, this star-forming complex is located in the Perseus spiral arm of the Milky Way, visible in the sky toward the constellation Cassiopeia. The dense star-forming clouds of IC 1871 were themselves formed by the intense winds and radiation from the region's massive young stars.
The image was taken with the 150 mm Esprit Apo with reducer at a focal length of 810 mm. Camera ASI1600 mm pro with Sll, Olll and Ha filters. Mount AM5. Total integration 11 hours. 3 minute subs. 6 hours Ha and 2.5 hours Olll and Sll each. 8/9-09 2023. Location Almere haven
