Description

This video documents the progression of the moon's cycles from Moon Day 2 though 28. I shot these over two cycles, starting in late August and well into October here in New Mexico. You may note some seemingly odd transitions, where the progression seems to advance only slightly sometimes and make fairly large steps forward other times. You'll also notice two days of full moon. This is all because I had to sometimes jump from one month to another. Still, I felt super-fortunate getting this in just two months.

I found the IOS app, Sun Surveyor invaluable in planning my shots. I have limited sky visibility from my back yard and the app helped me figure out from where I could shoot the moon, and when I needed to be out there.

I have other moon shots on Astrobin where I explain how I'm able to capture this shots (lucky imaging)! I'll also point out that the on-screen text changes with every image so you can keep track of where it is in the cycle and what's going on. I entered only one acquisition date so Astrobin would  display this but you can see all the other dates on-screen.
