Description

Sharpless 2-200, also known as HDW 2 (Hartl-Dengl-Weinberger 2) is an old planetary nebula in Cassiopeia. It is known popularly as the "Bearclaw" Nebula. It was discovered by Stewart Sharpless in 1959 and added to the HDW catalog in 1983 as a possible planetary nebula and has since been verified as an ancient planetary nebula. It is appx. 3590 light years distant.

Taken with my CDK 14 from SkiesAway Observatory over 16 nights between October 16th and November 7th 2023. I show it as a HaO3 "L" RGB because the Ha and O3 were combined to make a synthetic Luminance.
