Description

My first attempt at imaging the Wizard nebula that was discovered by the amazing Caroline Herschel in 1787.
It is in the constellation Cepheus and is 7000 lights years away. The area is lit by very young binary stars called NGC 7380 that formed about 5 million years ago. The name of the nebula comes form the fact that astronomers thought the shape looks like a sorcerer wearing a pointed hat.
I used the SHO palette for the image.
