Happy Halloween!

The Witch’s Broom (NGC 6960)
The Bat Nebula (NGC 6995)

10,000-12,000 years ago a supernova exploded in the constellation of Cygnus and formed (and still is) the Veil Nebula Supernova Renant. Both the Bat and Witch’s broom are part of the Veil Nebula supernova remnant. At 1,400 light year distance the Bat Nebula is approximately 12 light years wide or 9,449 times woder than out Solar System. The Witch’s Broom is 35 light years wide or 27,559 tomes larger than our Solar System.
The bright star in the Witch’s Broom is 52 Cygni and visible with the unaided eye, but is unrelated to the supernova remnant.
These two images are crops from a larger two panel mosaic.
