Three nights almost without clouds, meaning it is around full moon. I'd love to collect a few DSOs on the sensor, but here is the

...17ºC 70%RH, good transparency but turbulent air with wind gusts. This is everything but favorable for imaging with a C8 and a 2.5x Powermate, but anyway curiosity was stronger and there wasn't a single cloud for a while.

This is a small series with an entire lunar view composed of 8 panes and a few magnified views all taken with an IMX585 color camera at reduced ROI of 1920x1080 resulting in a high transfer rate of 187fps at 5ms exposure and raw8 color space.

After having it almost forgotten I unearthed my home-brewed App which replaces the SynScan with a Bluetooth connection once the mount is polar aligned and tracking. Surprisingly, my aged serial BT adapter is still working like a charm (though with a previous BT version). Wireless is convenient indeed, while slewing goes smoother and data input is way easier and faster.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
