Description

The Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, Messier 45, is an open star cluster containing middle-aged, hot B-type stars in the north-west of the constellation Taurus. At a distance of about 444 light years, it is among the nearest star clusters to Earth.

Living in rural Eastern Oregon which boasts some of the most pristine skies in the USA due to low light pollution, it is a joy to be able to look up and see this star cluster with the naked eye.
