Description

Actually the Orion Nebula should only be a gap filler to photograph the Cone Nebula after the meridian passage. But the details that came out during the processing of the three SHO channels totally fascinate me. I would not have thought it possible how many different shades of color M42 and the neighboring Running Man Nebula Sh2-279 contain.

Check out the full resolution for maximum details. You can also see proplyds near the center when zooming in. To make this area a bit darker and more contrasty, I will eventually upload an enlarged view of the trapezoid area, where even more color shades exist.

Processing was done with PixInsight, Astro Pixel Processor, Siril and Photoshop for final tuning.

My location: near Marktbreit in Bavaria (Bortle 4, but mostly with moon)
