Description

Clearing skies on the evening / early morning of 25th/26th January enabled my second effort at this bright comet, this time with a widefield set up. Plainly visible through binoculars from my Bortle 4 location - albeit just a grey smudge.  Pleased to capture the 'anti-tail' projecting lower left of the coma and also the remnants of the disconnection event half way along the ion tail.

Capture is 63 x 120 secs Bin 1 @ -20C.   Processed mostly in Pixinisht. Stacked in WBPP for stars and then used the Comet Alignment tool for the comet.  I then made 3 separate comet only stacks using image integration so that the stars were sufficiently separated to enable StarX to remove them.  Then combined the 3 starless comet stacks with Image Integration and merged with the comet-less stars image.
