Description

This animation is the same region as the static image I posted at: https://www.astrobin.com/3uw2oy/E/. It is my second time out with my Lunt LS60MT/B1200 single stack Hα telescope, which makes it I’ve had two sunny mornings in a month! Seeing was good this time out though. There were four active prominence regions, but only one of them really showed any interesting detail that changed during the 22 minutes of data capture.

Each frame of this animation is taken from 25 seconds of 16-bit SER videos, about 750 frames total. For each animation frame I stacked the SER video in Autostakkert at 10% best frames (75 images stacked) with a 3X drizzle. Each 25 seconds of video was followed by a 35 second wait, so as a result, each frame in the animation is 1 minute apart. The imaging sequence was repeated for a total of 22 minutes. Frames were all wavelets sharpened in Registax, then an avi video was created in PIPP. The avi video was imported into Photoshop where it was upscaled 2X. I did final curves, background noise reduction, inversion of the overexposed Solar surface, and color in Photoshop. Note the video is inverted, this region is the SE limb. The gif was then created in Photoshop with a crop to the prominence area you see here.
