Description

Clouds cleared too late to take data on my long-term target so I went back to some experimenting with deep-space lucky imaging using the ASI178MM I normally use for solar work. Putting it on my ES102CF is still a novelty so some things still to work out there.
I overcooked the dithering on this second attempt (1st one was underdone!) - I don't have to deal with CMOS pattern noise with my QHY9 so that's a trial and error still in progress. That left some egg-shaped stars but hey-ho.
I've started playing with the AstroDenoisePyGUI program developed for the Astrobiscuit BAT project (https://www.astrobiscuit.com/the-big-amateur-telescope) that has been trained specifically for astro noise reduction/removal and it works a treat both on this and my CCD data.
This image was made up of the best 300 out of 1000 3 second subs with not spectacular seeing. It had a quick processing in PI to improve the stars and sharpen it up a touch.
