Description

Getting ready for Milky Way season…I bought an ASKAR300 and paired it with my ASI6200MM.  I was also looking at the Redcat.  So. Cal has been so cloudy for months, only got a few nights of data. 😩 I took luminance for M106 early in the night (no time to process yet), and this star field near NGC6633 early in the morning.  The FOV is enormous and so are the file sizes. I found drizzle 2 gave the best results.  Drizzle 1.5 may be good enough but need to test that; drizzle 1 shows pixelated stars at high zoom.  The subs are 122.4Mbs; the stacked drizzle 2 channels are 244.7Mbs; the RGB combined is 1Gig!  This little test is 51Gigs.  The full jpeg file is 114MBs; this upload is 80% jpg quality and 21mbs.  Ouch baby. 🤪  Processing is slow even on my iMac beast.  Analysis of stars and backspace was acceptable, but improved with BXT correct feature, version F ASTAP analysis.   The 2” filters are actually 48mm and give vignetting in the corners, but I’m not about to purchase 50mm filters! 🤑  Overall, I’m impressed so far with this little beast of a scope.  -john
