This image is from a late January 2022 trip to Concepcion de Oro, in Northeastern Zacatecas, Mexico.

The scope used is an Askar FRA600 with the .72 Reducer. The scope is fast but as you can see there is chromatic aberration in the blue channel. I killed the purple in the stars by inverting the image in PI and using SCNR.

LEO TRIPLET.jpg

Camera was the ZWO 2600mm experimenting with zero gain.

Lum 105 x 60 seconds
RGB 21 x 120 seconds each

New moon with skies approaching 21.8 Mag around 3 am in the morning.

The target was picked for a wide field shot as there were not many large targets in the sky during galaxy season.

Processing was vanilla basic. I wanted to reveal all the tiny background galaxies and galaxy clusters as possible. No deconvolution and no noise suppression in PI.

Extra processing in Affinity Photo to slightly shift the yellow channel and boost the color in the Leo Triplet Galaxies about 30%.

GALAXY CLUSTERS.jpg

I would call this a success. There are maybe one thousand galaxies or more in this image.

Near the NGC3628 we find IC 2725 and IC 2729. These are over 1 billion light years away https://telescopius.com/deep-sky/object/12994/ic-2729/galaxy

At the lower left side at the bottom of the image there seems to a cluster of galaxies that are very very far away. With 5 minute subs I would have gone much deeper.

I will do another image like this on my next trip. Good to be under the stars, sleeping in a chair, at 34F. Happy times.
