Description

Finally had a few days of clear skies here in Ontario. Orion is rising in the south shortly after sunset, so it was a perfect opportunity to take a crack at the Horsehead Nebula.

I spent 2 nights shooting narrowband with the IDAS NBZ, then 1x night shooting broadband with a UVIR filter. All of the images were stacked using WBPP to create an RGB image and a Narrowband image. After using DBE to remove the gradients, the red channels from each image were extracted and merged together using a screen blending algoirthm [ ~(~img1 * ~img2) ]. Once non-linear, the HaRGB was recombined as a RRGB (using LRGB combination, and the modified red channel as a luminance). 

I recently added a cable router to my RASA that purposefully creates diffraction spikes, and I'm very happy with how the stars turned out.
